What is this blog about?

This blog is created and dedicated to my insanely awesome, sweet and silly 6 year old son, who just so happens to currently hold an Autism diagnosis.
Currently you say?
Yes!  I believe whole heartedly that recovery from Autism IS possible for so many!  Some who read this might find such a statement hurtful or ignorant, but my belief in this is not intended to undermine those parents who give so much day in and day out or to discredit my gratitude for the incredible experiences Autism has provided us.

There are so many stories of recovery from Autism, how can I not aim or give everything I possibly can to accomplish the same for my son.

This is much of our adventure as we work to overcome and smash the supposed boundaries of Autism.  This entire year is dedicated to him!  This year we are staying home, unschooling, playing, pretending, cooking, learning, loving, and overcoming.

This blog is intended to document our learning and creative experiences as well as his earned triumphs.  Here I will share what I believe to be the best medicine for children and families who

I believe nutrition to be the cornerstone of health for every living person.  This becomes particularly true for those who may be predisposed or circumstantially have weakened bodily function.  In regards to Autism, it is my firm belief that the single MOST IMPORTANT thing you can do to promote cognitive and physical function, not to mention full recovery.
So many individuals who hold an Autism diagnosis are plagued with a dysfunctional digestive system as well as immunity to illness or food sensitivities.  By removing foods that are toxic to the ailed person and introducing health-promoting foods that rebuild that which is broken, only then can healing take place.
Foods that are destructive to those experiencing Autism or digestive distress are often unassuming.  There are a host of great diets that aid in the opportunity for complete health.  These diets include the SCD diet, which we personally adhered to for 2.5 years, and counting, the GAPS diet, Candida diet, and Body Ecology Diet.  All of these primarily focus on removing gluten, sugars including those from some starchy or complex carbohydrates, and the exclusion of dairy for some.

We're a super awesome family of 4.  This includes the worlds greatest, most silly dad, the sweetest 6 year old boy on the planet with the best tickle-induced giggle around, a fierce 2 year old diva with personality for days complimented by her adorable charm, and myself, a mom doing my best to make the most of each day by creating unforgettable moments and hopefully not too much heartache.

Like any of you, I'm learning on the job! Over the years I've experienced ups and downs, victories and utter failures.  This blog is primarily
